TOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 13, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Marco's Pizza, the 27-year-old, 144-unit pizza chain founded in Toledo, has grown over the years with local entrepreneurs and will seek to continue that trend by hosting a "Franchise Discovery Day" Wednesday, October 19 at its company headquarters here.
Jack Butorac, Jr., Marco's Franchising LLC president, announced the event, which is open to interested persons who complete financial pre-qualification by calling (419) 885-7000 and asking for Debbie Allen in franchise development.
Marco's, which will set a company record this year by opening 24 stores, now has units in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona.
"The vast majority of our current franchisees grew up in the Toledo area and have become very successful business entrepreneurs," Butorac said. "We want to continue that legacy."
According to Butorac, a number of Toledo natives have expanded Marco's in just the past year, including:
-- Tom Herman, a business owner and active community and
civic member who is franchising 30 stores in Phoenix.
-- Jim and Jerry Tippin, former business owners, who are opening
10 stores in Las Vegas.
Italy native Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco founded Marco's and remains with the company today in concept development and as the owner of Toledo-area stores. Butorac, a franchise development expert, acquired the franchising rights to Marco's last year and, with his team of professionals, has put the company on a logical growth plan.
"We have a good concept, and we have a good name," Butorac said. "We recently went back to our roots and rolled out a re-branding campaign that focuses on our Italian heritage and 'Ah-thentic Italian pizza.' There is always room for a well-operated pizza store in America."
