BELMONT, Mass., Nov. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Kronos Advanced Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:KNOS) announced today that the Company's proprietary air circulation and purification technology is featured in an article in BusinessWeek magazine about the business opportunities being created by the threat of an avian flu pandemic.
"Prevent a Pandemic, Make a Profit," published in BusinessWeek's November 28 edition and currently on news stands, looks at what high-technology and other companies have to offer beyond vaccines in dealing with an avian flu outbreak. According to the article, "The prospect of an avian flu outbreak, while worrisome, is a bonanza for businesses that seize the moment." The article noted that Kronos' system, which puts high voltage across an array of wires to create a flow of charged particles -- ions-strong enough to pull air along, in early tests showed an unexpected benefit. "The electrical field also rips molecules apart, destroying pathogens such as anthrax spores and flu viruses."
The article went on to quote Peter Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board, as saying the Kronos virus killer "could be a hell of a device" for filtering air everywhere from hospitals to airplanes.
