The Excellence in Public/Private Partnership Awards were established by The United States Conference of Mayors to recognize achievements made possible by the partnerships between cities and companies across the nation. The award was presented at The U.S. Conference of Mayors' 74th Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector partnered with the City of Corpus Christi to install a city-owned, multi-purpose wireless broadband network to serve as the backbone for improved e-government services. The network's ubiquitous coverage, ease-of-use, capacity and security allow Corpus Christi to address the operational efficiency challenges faced by all local governments, and in turn position itself as an attractive place to do business, live and work.

"The expert resources Northrop Grumman brought to Corpus Christi in this joint endeavor have helped the city define its future and institute practical technologies that enable a new style and era of e-government with long-term savings to the city," said Corpus Christi Mayor Henry Garrett.

"Corpus Christi is a notable example of the business efficiency enhancements, return on investment and positive community impact resulting from implementation of a city-owned wireless network," said Hugh Taylor, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Commercial, State and Local Group.
