PITTSBURGH, Aug. 16, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Unique Pizza and Subs Corporation (Pink Sheets:UPZS) a Delaware Corporation, has positioned themselves to secure another large segment of pizza consumers, hungry, loyal, NASCAR fans, by adding two additional Unique signature lines to its menu, The Victory Lane Pizza and The Qualifier Sub. On July 22, the No. 98 Unique Pizza and Subs NASCAR made its world wide debut at the King Taco 200 (Irwindale Speedway) and with a long term agreement with Phelps MotorSports, owner of the No. 98 car, UPZS felt it was only prudent and necessary to bring the NASCAR branding to its menu. NASCAR fans are considered by many to be the most loyal fans of any sport and in the Pittsburgh market Unique Pizza has been building that same brand loyalty over the last fifteen years with its own customers. That is why Unique Pizza and Subs has partnered with Phelps MotorSports to sponsor the No. 98 for years to come, combining extremely loyal pizza eaters with dedicated and loyal NASCAR fans.
The Victory Lane Pizza is a sixteen cut square pizza that can be ordered plain or with any of Unique Pizza and Sub's thirty plus toppings. It can also be ordered in any of their seventeen signature pizzas such as: Buffalo Chicken, Meatball, Western Steak, Bacon Cheese Burger, Parmesan Peppercorn Chicken and many more. The Qualifier is the newest addition to Unique's Pounder menu (all subs on the Pounder menu have a total pound of meat and cheese). It comes with 12ozs of sliced rib eye steak sauteed in a butter garlic sauce, 4ozs of sliced provolone cheese, 5ozs of crisp seasoned fries, 4ozs homemade vinaigrette slaw, 6 slices of fresh tomato, served on a custom fourteen inch 8oz split top bun, and then this massive 38oz sub is housed in a proprietary Unique Pizza and Subs custom logo sub box.
Billy Blackwell, CIO of Unique Pizza and Subs, stated, "I have been a staunch supporter of NASCAR since I was a young lad and fully appreciate the loyalty that NASCAR fans show towards the sponsors. With our nationwide expansion underway we felt it was the perfect time to partner with a first class team such as Phelps MotorSports and get into a sport with the most dedicated fans. By adding these two key items to the menu and with our sponsorship of the No. 98 car it is just another of many indications to our loyal shareholders how committed we are in building a strong share value."
With the development and trademark of The Victory Lane Pizza and The Qualifier, UPZS continues to clearly separate themselves from all other major pizza franchises while building strong interest in the investment community. Unique Pizza and Subs is the only publicly traded pizza franchise that has been designed to succeed in "high profile" as well as smaller markets, allowing for a much more rapid growth in any market than its competition. Unique Pizza and Subs has four clear advantages over the rest of the pizza industry: superior quality of product, a unique and extensive menu, Customer Response Center (C.R.C. receives incoming orders for all nationwide stores), and a well defined strategy for converting existing locations within a market.
Unique Pizza and Subs is also in advanced negotiations for: Houston, Texas; Plymouth, Michigan; Ontario, California; Royal Oak, Michigan; San Diego, California; Sacramento, California; Charlotte, North Carolina and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; with the minimum commitment of five locations per territory. Unique Pizza and Subs is preparing to open (194 committed locations by the end 2007) franchises in Austin, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Northeastern North Carolina; Connecticut; New Hampshire; Rhode Island; Virginia and several additional locations in Western Pennsylvania this summer.
About Unique Pizza and Subs Corporation, a Delaware Corporation
Since the beginning of its development stages back in 1991 Unique Pizza and Subs clearly has separated themselves from the other major pizza franchises. They needed to have more than just the best product in the industry; they needed a way to grow rapidly in any market. They noticed all the major pizza franchises were predominately located in only highly populated markets, leaving a tremendously large pizza eating population only serviced by independent pizza shops. Two of the main reasons the major pizza franchises do not locate in smaller markets is because of their inferior quality of their product compared to the local independents and their corporate ownership is not usually welcomed. To succeed in a smaller market, a pizza shop needs to have these key elements: a high quality and consistently made product (all of their recipes were designed to have the quality of a "mom and pop" pizza shop with the consistency of a major franchise), good, professional and friendly customer service (UPZS is the only publicly traded pizza franchise that will have all of its locations orders routed to their professionally staffed Customer Response Center), and an owner that lives, works and pays taxes in that small market (all of the conversions of independent pizza shops into Unique Pizza and Subs will retain the same local ownership).
