KEMIRA ACQUIRES THE PAPER CHEMICALS AGENCY BUSINESS OF BAYER AG


In April this year, Kemira acquired Lanxess' paper chemicals business, and took the leading position as global supplier of chemicals and services to the pulp and paper industry. Integration has proceeded successfully, and better and faster than planned. Kemira is now taking a final step in the integration and will acquire the paper chemicals agency business from Bayer AG on October 1, 2006.
 
Sales and marketing of former Lanxess paper chemicals have been handled through Bayer agencies in appr. 20 countries, mainly in Europe, the Far East and South America, where Lanxess has not been present. Revenue of the business is approx. EUR 35 million per year.
 
In connection with the acquisition of the agency business, 14 persons will transfer to Kemira from Bayer. They will add valuable expertise to Kemira's global sales organization.
