Advance information on sales figures
Information on the results and the financial position as at the end of the financial year (30 September 2006) will be released at the press conference on 28 November 2006.
In the 2005-2006 financial year (i.e. the period to 30 September 2006), the Lyss-based Feintool Group, which operates globally in the systems construction and components business, posted sales of CHF 500 million for the first time in its history.
The Fineblanking/Forming segment once again increased its sales, this time by 4.7% to CHF 319.2 million (previous year: CHF 304.9 million), thereby contributing 63.4% to Group sales (previous year: 62.1%). Both the Feintool and Schmid press and systems brands were able to maintain the previous year's high level overall. In the components business, the Japanese and European facilities posted a further increase in revenues, while the US companies maintained their position in a very difficult market environment.
Although the Automation segment focused primarily on more profitable projects, revenue rose only slightly on 2004-2005, from CHF 110.6 million to CHF 111.1 million. The segment's share of consolidated sales totalled 22.1% (previous year: 22.6%). All three business units - Automation Systems, Automation Components and Riveting Systems - contributed equally to the good result. New systems customers were gained in previously untapped sectors, and innovative products helped Feintool to reach new customers for components.
The Plastic/Metal Components segment was hard hit by extremely tough global competition. With sales of CHF 72.9 million (2004-2005: CHF 75.2 million) in a very challenging market environment, it contributed 14.5% (previous year: 15.3%) to the consolidated total.
With orders in hand once again higher than the previous year's record figure, Feintool is well positioned at the start of the 2006-2007 financial year.
