HICKORY, Ky., Nov. 16, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mundus' (Pink Sheets:MNDS) Roadable Aircraft International (RAI) uncovered an appropriate avenue for potential growth: application within the current round of Department of Defense Small Business Innovation Research program solicitations - under Human Unmanned System Interaction Technology.
With an eye towards developing and marketing one of the world's first commercially successful Vertical Take Off And Landing (VTOL) vehicles, Mundus Group's RAI subsidiary has established relations with Wingate Carpenter and Associates L.L.C., a Washington, D.C.- based business consulting firm to pursue Department of Defense (DOD) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding and other federal government opportunities.
Enclosed ducted fan and hyper lift technology is a distinct design feature of the craft, making it more accommodating to landing within close proximity to infrastructure and pedestrians - a key element when considering the need to remove injured persons from conflict areas, for example. Based on its initial development, RAI's urgent response VTOL UAV can be evaluated for a position as the replacement for outdated rescue and evacuation options and its potential as a substitute to traditional methods of emergency transport.
"Practical applications of the VTOL technology, can include: medical evacuation, rescue services and surveillance projects as well as many other applications. When the Star Trek series was launched in the sixties, the viewing audience could barely conceive of - let alone imagine daily use of - handheld computer devices or equipment that could scan the internals of a body without conducting invasive surgery," stated Steve Halsell. "Thirty years later, we take these technologies for granted.
"RAI may well transform the personal transport industry."
