WILKES BARRE, Pa., Feb. 19, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- WBRE News Consumer Reporter Jeff Chirico will host a free seminar outlining consumers' rights under the Pennsylvania Lemon Law and Federal Warranty Laws. The WBRE On Your Side Lemon Law Clinic will take place Wednesday, February 21st at 7pm at Boscov's Department Store, 15 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
Under State and Federal Laws, consumers are entitled to seek recourse from automobile manufacturers if their cars are in the shop for the same problems three or more times under original or extended warranty, or if their car is in the shop thirty or more days within the first year. This recourse can include a new car or full or partial refund. In addition, the laws provide consumers with free legal representation as they battle against the billion-dollar automobile manufacturers. During the seminar, Mr. Chirico will outline consumers' rights with Lemon Law Advocate Craig Thor Kimmel. Topics to be discussed include the definition of a lemon and steps to file a lemon law claim. Seminar attendees will also have the chance to have their cases reviewed by Mr. Kimmel to determine if they have grounds for recourse.
In addition to outlining the laws, car-buying tips will also be discussed. While there are no surefire ways to prevent the sale of lemons, there are a few ways consumers can protect themselves. Mr. Chirico and Mr. Kimmel will share five rules to remember when buying a new or used car.
Admission is free but seats are limited. For reservations or more information, call 1-800-LEMON-LAW (1-800-536-6652) ext. 200.
