Trinity Health Wins Corporate University Xchange Award for Leadership Development


NOVI, Mich., March 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In recognition of its high impact training initiatives to develop effective health care leaders, Trinity Health was the only health system in the nation to be honored at the Eighth Annual Corporate University Xchange Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Corporate Learning. Trinity Health picked up the Best Practice Award for Leadership Development.

The Corporate University Xchange Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Corporate Learning salute corporate and government learning organizations that create exciting, impactful programs that result in measurable improvements in employee and business performance. Since 1999, the Awards, given by Corporate University Xchange (CUX), the leading provider of corporate education research, benchmarking and advisory services for the enterprise learning marketplace, have set the standard for corporate learning.

According to the judges, Trinity Health operates a well-defined coaching and action-learning program with clearly identified competencies aligned with mission and strategic challenges. Trinity Health's leadership development program ranks among "the best of the best" in business, which includes Corporate University Xchange winners EDS, Stapes, Coles Group Limited, Convergys, Central Bank of Malaysia and UBS. Other category winners include The Boeing Company, National Geographic, Hitachi Data Systems and MasterCard Worldwide.

Trinity Health's Organization Development and Talent Management (ODTM) team provides vision and strategic direction for the talent management and leadership development of Trinity Health's 5,000 leaders serving in a network of 46 owned and managed hospitals, health care services, and advocate partnerships at the community, regional and national levels.

The Trinity Health Leadership Series was created to provide a clear, well-defined career progression for leaders in our organization. The Leadership Series has three parts:


 * Foundations in Leadership -- For emerging leaders, managers and 
   directors
 * Strategic Leadership Program -- For directors, vice presidents and 
   C-level leaders
 * Advanced Leadership Program -- For directors, vice presidents, C-
   level and "high potential" leaders.

The programs focus on three core competencies: providing opportunities for development; stimulating the ability to develop through action learning; and providing a supportive cultural, environmental and experiential workplace for change to occur. Past participants have consistently demonstrated improvements in knowledge, confidence and expertise.

Other work teams have developed long-range strategies for supply chain management and business growth.
