SAN RAMON, Calif., May 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- MoCA has named cable industry veteran Charles Cerino as its new president. Charles is currently vice president of new media development at Comcast Corporation. A cable industry veteran of more than 30 years, Charles had been serving as vice president of MoCA since the organization's inception more than three years ago.
His election to the presidency was unanimous.
"Charles has brought invaluable experience and insight to MoCA during his tenure on the board," said Allen Huotari, MoCA board member and technical leader at Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc. "As president, as he did as vice president, he will provide outstanding leadership as MoCA becomes the standard for digital entertainment distribution via in-home coax."

In his position at Comcast, Charles evaluates new technologies and how best to incorporate their value into the network. He joined Comcast in 1978 as a system engineer helping to build a cable infrastructure in the Philadelphia suburbs. During his tenure at Comcast, he has held system, region and corporate engineering positions.
He has also been active in the Delaware Valley Chapter of the SCTE, serving as a founder, board member and president.
Since 1995, he has focused on exploring new technologies and was instrumental in launching Comcast's cable modem service.
He received his bachelor's degree from Temple University.
