TeraRecon's iNtuition(TM) Delivers at Stanford's Face-Off

solutions, demonstrated the new, unique and powerful Aquarius iNtuition
workflow architecture at the "Workstation Face-off" hosted by Stanford
University's 9th Annual International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT in
San Francisco. The 5th Annual "Workstation Face-off" challenged vendors of
advanced 3D image processing technologies to demonstrate clinically-viable
workflows on four challenging clinical cases, live before the symposium
audience. For the first time, the face-off included requirements to
demonstrate thin-client technology compatible with enterprise-wide image
management of large multi-detector CT examinations -- the field pioneered
and defined by TeraRecon with its AquariusNET technology which first
received FDA Clearance to Market in 2001, years before any competing 3D
enterprise technology.
All the cases provided for demonstration challenged the presenting
physicians in different ways. Dr. Christopher Herzog of the Red Cross
Clinic in Munich, Germany, presenting for TeraRecon, was able to utilize a
suite of powerful and intuitive tools in order to complete the assigned
tasks within the allotted time, with decision support automatically
provided, without human intervention required, courtesy of TeraRecon's
AquariusAPS pre-processing architecture. The AquariusAPS pre-processing
server was able to automatically segment bones and vessels from the CT
scans provided, without any user interaction, automatically upon receipt of
the data, while preparing centerlines of vessels and automatically
detecting and labeling various elements of the anatomy presented.

this year is definitely a significant step forward in the right direction,

The Aquarius iNtuition architecture is designed to fit the needs to a wide
variety of imaging scenarios, from a single hospital with one CT scanner
and no 3D technologist, to expansive imaging enterprises with multiple
modalities, locations, and points of access to imaging results. iNtuition
workflow is centered on the concept of "Automate, Validate, and Read." The
AquariusAPS pre-processing server "Automates" common tasks like bone
removal and centerline extractions, based on predefined rules and
preferences. These results are transported in a special object called a
Scene to the Aquarius Workstation or AquariusNET Server, where they can
then be "Validated" by a dedicated technologist if one is available, or by
the physician in the course of their review of the study, as appropriate.
From this point, the physician can "Read" the case, potentially having
avoided 90% of the manual processing and preparation traditionally required
in a 3D interpretation.
