Index Oil and Gas, Inc. Announces George Cason 1 Well Reaches Total Depth

HOUSTON, July 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Index Oil and Gas, Inc. (OTCBB:IXOG) ("Index" or "the Company") today announced that the George Cason 1 well ("Cason 1") in the Fern Lake Prospect in Nacogdoches County, Texas reached a total depth of 11,147 feet on July 14, 2007.

Following logging operations to obtain down hole data, a decision was made to complete and test two intervals.

Cason 1 was the first well to be drilled in Index's new fiscal year ending March 31, 2008. It was followed by the Shadyside spud that took place earlier in this month.

Cason 1 is part of the Company's fiscal year 2008 portfolio of planned higher impact prospects, described in its Operations Summary and Outlook released on June 11, 2007. Wells in this portfolio have the potential to significantly grow the Company as a result of higher reserves, production and revenue. The portfolio builds upon the cash flow anticipated from the successful wells drilled during fiscal year 2007. Index has an 18% working interest in the Cason Well after payout.

Lyndon West, CEO of Index, stated, "We are awaiting the results of the completion and testing and will keep the market informed in due course."
