"The Challenge of Leading Change" -- an Intact-Team Program Offered by Cambridge Leadership Associates, Oct. 17 - 19, 2007, Cambridge, MA

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - July 30, 2007) - "The Challenge of Leading Change," an intensive two and a half day workshop for teams to develop new approaches to make progress on specific challenges they are attempting to manage, will be held October 17 - 19 in Cambridge, Mass., at the Norton's Woods Conference Center.

The program sponsor, Cambridge Leadership Associates, is a leadership consulting firm known for its seminal Adaptive Leadership™ work with clients in the US and abroad.

"The Challenge of Leading Change" program is specifically designed for intact teams tackling tough challenges. This program helps teams apply the strategies and skills of Adaptive Leadership to individual and organizational leadership challenges. "We designed this program specifically for functional work teams that have collective accountability for a product or outcome," said Marty Linsky, CLA co-founder and Harvard University faculty. "Teams have specific challenges they face when attempting to deal with seemingly irresolvable issues that stall strategic initiatives, divide organizations and prevent them from moving forward."

Through a combination of case studies, discussions, small group work and guided reflection, participants will learn how to apply Adaptive Leadership to move ahead on previously insurmountable challenges. This includes how to:

--  Create a high-performing adaptive team;
--  Mobilize change across differing subgroups and loyalties;
-- "Get on the balcony™," orchestrate constructive conflict, think and
    act politically, give the work back, and use other Adaptive Leadership
    behaviors;
-- Develop the capacity and skill to innovate and prototype new
    initiatives;
-- Strengthen the ability to face internal resistance while implementing
    major changes;
-- Care for yourself and sustain your purpose and value.

The program will include an intensive session with CLA co-founder Ron Heifetz, Harvard University faculty member and founding director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Kennedy School of Government. Known for his seminal work during the last two decades on the practice and teaching of leadership, his research focuses on how to build adaptive capacity in societies, businesses, and nonprofits. His book "Leadership Without Easy Answers" is currently in its 13th printing and has been translated into many languages. He coauthored the best-selling book "Leadership on the Line: Staying Alive through the Dangers of Leading" with Marty Linsky.
