RIDGEWOOD, N.J., Sept. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Fanatic fans from seven NFL hometowns agreed to do silly stunts for 24 hours to welcome the start of another season and to win a trip to the 2008 Pro Bowl in Honolulu.
In a competition sponsored by the DISH Network, they chanted, sang karaoke, played tabletop football, tried throwing passes, and put together a grill with one team member blindfolded. They also participated in a chicken eating contest and painted faces as well as raced through the streets of Denver on a scavenger hunt for a fellow fan.
Donald Quinlan and Matthew Leibham, roommates at the University of Wisconsin, led through most of the 24-hour competition and emerged at the top of the heap. The Cleveland team, Dawn and Gary Brochetti, were close behind, followed by Betty and Roy Conrad, Green Bay fans.
The other teams: Denver, Jayson Garcia and Emily Rainero; Charlotte, Mark Whitlock and James Halt; Columbus, Edward and Julie Arnold; Dallas, Laynette and Ronnie Seay. An eighth team, Cincinnati's Vic Morgan and Shawn Cross, dropped out before the end of the marathon, but not before winning a chanting contest while wearing tiger costumes.
