Ten Non-Profit Organizations Raise Funds Through the Provident Bank Community Partnership Program

RIVERSIDE, Calif., May 1, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Provident Savings Bank, FSB ("Bank"), a subsidiary of Provident Financial Holdings, Inc. ("Company"), (Nasdaq:PROV), today announced that ten non-profit organizations located throughout Riverside County received checks for the funds raised through the Bank's recently established Community Partnership Program.

"The Community Partnership Program is relatively new and I am excited that so many non-profit organizations in our community received checks," stated Kathryn Gonzales, Senior Vice President of Retail Banking. "I hope the word gets out and we sign up more participants in the program. It is such an easy way to raise funds for your favorite charity or non-profit organization."

A formal check presentation to the Friends of the Riverside Library will be held at their Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the newly restored and enlarged Arlington Library at 6:00 pm. The check presentation will take place at 6:15 pm.

Following the meeting and presentation, author Sheila Lowe, creator of the mystery-series heroine: Claudia Rose, Forensic Graphologist will read and discuss her new book Poison Pen. The meeting and program is open to the public, free of charge.

"This check comes at a much needed time with all the budget restraints. We are pleased to establish another partnership with Provident Bank and look forward to a long term relationship," stated Doris Illes, President of the Friends of the Riverside Library. "These funds will be allocated to the Riverside Library special programs area. Ten years ago, Provident Bank stepped up and saved the Buzz Bee's Summer Reading Program when the library was informed the traditional funding source for the summer reading program would no longer be available. We sincerely appreciate their loyalty and continued generosity."
