CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwire - June 19, 2008) - NineSigma, the leading provider of open innovation (OI)
solutions, today announced the appointment of David Kalasky as director of
business development. Kalasky brings more than 20 years of innovation and
business development experience to NineSigma, most recently serving as an
account development manager for Sun Microsystems, a $14 billion network
computing company.
During his eight years at Sun, Kalasky was responsible for revenues, margin
and customer satisfaction for the company's global Motorola account. He led
a cross-functional team in the negotiations of the initial Global Purchase
and License Agreement (GPLA) in 2001, which has streamlined the sales
process and continues to define the Sun-Motorola relationship today. Prior
to Sun, Kalasky was the consulting operations manager for Motorola, where
he managed a 35-person consulting services team spanning five international
offices.
"David is a results-driven professional with a proven track record of
increasing revenues, customer satisfaction and margins across a variety of
industries," said Paul Stiros, president and CEO of NineSigma. "As we
continue to expand NineSigma around the world, it will be critical that we
have the right people in place to support our customers and help them find
new ways to capitalize on open innovation opportunities. David has been
instrumental in driving game-changing innovation at leading technology
companies and will play a vital role within our business development team
to do the same for our customers. We look forward to his ongoing
contribution towards the success of NineSigma."
Before joining Motorola, Kalasky founded a new business start-up that
provided software sales and services for manufacturing planning, logistics,
optimization and decision support. He also served as product services
manager for Systems Modeling Corporation, group manager for Westinghouse
Electric Corporation, and industrial engineer and production foreman for
Consol Energy. Kalasky is a registered Professional Engineer, is Certified
in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and was a recipient of the
Westinghouse Chairman's Award. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial
engineering from the University of Kentucky and a master's degree in
operations research from The Pennsylvania State University.
"Open innovation is a proven, cost-effective way for companies to grow the
bottom line," stated Kalasky. "NineSigma provides the engine for open
innovation with robust services for innovative discovery, connections and
solutions. Based out of Chicago, my focus will be on expanding NineSigma's
user-base, building account teams with NineSigma's existing clients and
helping to coordinate NineSigma's upcoming Open Innovation Leadership
Summit in Chicago in October 2008. NineSigma provides an exciting challenge
for me at this point in my career, and I appreciate the company's
confidence in my abilities to help the company continue to grow."
