SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that its core, backbone and edge routing and switching solutions have passed the rigorous Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Assured Services Voice Application Local Area Networking (ASVALAN) interoperability testing. The second successful JITC ASVALAN certification for Foundry's(r) product portfolio demonstrates commitment to high-performance networking solutions for federal and government customers. Foundry's latest routers and switches are now fully tested and certified to be interoperable and to operate with JITC-certified Voice over IP (VoIP) systems in DoD networks using standards-based Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols for switching and routing.
The JITC certification process, coordinated by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), entails an arduous regimen of system and interoperability tests. JITC certification ensures that products are secure, operate without performance degradation in a multi-vendor environment, possess exacting levels of resiliency and redundancy to ensure reliability under duress, and offer the unique military features and functionality required for national security. The JITC certification, validating functionality of attributes such as jitter, delay and packet loss, is required for all products that support voice, data or video communications connecting to the Defense Switched Network.
"JITC certification demonstrates Foundry's commitment and ability to provide networking products and solutions that meet the stringent and thorough requirements of the Department of Defense," said Jay Hatch, vice president of Federal Sales, Foundry Networks. "Government organizations can now purchase Foundry high-performance networking solutions with confidence, knowing they are interoperable with their choice of available VoIP solutions and will maintain high-performance and full capabilities regardless of the environment."
The Foundry products passing the JITC ASVALAN certification include the NetIron(r) XMR Series backbone routers, the NetIron MLX Series metro routers, the BigIron(r) RX Series backbone switches, and the FastIron(r) Edge, Edge X, GS, LS and SX compact switches.
