Expanding in-house production of Sunsil® solar-grade silicon in the
framework of the joint venture operated in Rheinfelden with Evonik Degussa
GmbH and the groups comprehensive internal recycling activities, the
SolarWorld Group has secured its global solar raw material base through
long-term contracts with renowned manufacturers. With this three-pillar
strategy SolarWorld pursues a secure and consistent procurement strategy
for its raw materials. To this end, Deutsche Solar AG, a wholly owned
subsidiary of SolarWorld AG, has concluded a further contract with the
Korean silicon producer DC Chemical Co. Ltd. (DCC) for the delivery of
solar-grade silicon valued at 580 million US dollars by 2016.
With this new silicon contract SolarWorld is additionally securing the
utilization peaks of its wafer production at the Freiberg/Saxony and
Hillsboro/Oregon locations.

quality and we are looking forward to the long-term cooperation', says the
CEO of Deutsche Solar AG, Prof. Dr. Peter Woditsch.
In parallel to the contracts to secure raw material supplies, additional
long-term contracts for sales of solar wafers worth more than 350 million
US dollars in total were concluded with customers in Germany and China. The
order book, which extends until 2018, has thus exceeded a volume of 9
billion US dollars. 'We are aiming to increase our order book to ten
billion US dollars by the end of 2008', comments the CEO of SolarWorld AG,
Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, on the Groups further outlook.
