SmartMetric, Inc. Announces World's First Dual Frequency Portable Biometric in Card Reader
| Quelle: SmartMetric, Inc.
BAY HARBOR, FL--(Marketwire - September 3, 2008) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCBB : SMME ) announces
that it is about to ship its new release dual frequency fingerprint access
control card. After trials of its earlier product the company found the
need to include 2 separate transmission frequencies in its world's first
biometric fingerprint scanning card. While the initial biometric card
developed by SmartMetric could open doors with a short range transmission
it wasn't able to open garage doors or identify a person from a distance as
they approached say a guard station on a corporate campus or military base.
Creating a dual frequency on the one card and still keeping the dimensions
of the card to that of a standard credit card was a much bigger task, so
said the company's Founder and CEO Mr. Colin Hendrick speaking from
SmartMetric R&D offices in Bal Harbour, Florida. He said, "We had to
install inside the card 2 separate antennaes to enable both short range and
long range transmission from the one card. After a person places their
finger on the card, the card's internal electronics scans the fingerprint
and then matches it with the person's pre-stored fingerprint in the card.
If the person is who they say they are then a match with the internal
fingerprint is made and the card is "turned on." In the case of the
SmartMetric access control fingerprint card then it sends both a short
range transmission for opening contactless card doorway locks as well as a
long range signal of up to 30 feet to identify the person as they drive up
to say a guard station."
While the addition of the dual frequency has delayed the final release of
the company's product it has meant that when the company finally releases
its product shortly for mass sales, then it will have a product that stands
to revolutionize the security industry and meet the demands of both the
Government and Corporate sectors.
The SmartMetric fingerprint card with the most advanced and smallest
fingerprint scanning technology in the world puts SmartMetric at the
leading edge of portable Biometric products. The SmartMetric card is the
smallest biometric fingerprint reader in the world that has taken more than
8 years of research and development.
