ATLANTA, Sept. 4, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today announced that Cyril Turner, 46, has been appointed president of DAL Global Services (DGS), the airline's wholly owned subsidiary providing aviation services and temporary staffing to more than 30 airline customers in more than 50 locations in North America. As president of DGS, Turner will develop and execute a strategic plan that maximizes the value of DGS and maintains strong partnerships with all of its customers.

Turner most recently served as corporate vice president, Capital Planning and Value Management for Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE). Prior to that, he served as vice president of Finance and chief financial officer for the Eastern North America Group, as well as division vice president and general manager with The Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Turner also held leadership positions with The Coca-Cola Company, Frito-Lay and Deloitte & Touche.

In addition to his extensive business experience, Turner is active in the Atlanta community serving on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement, Camp Coca-Cola (now known as C5 Youth Foundation) and the DeKalb County Schools Foundation. He also is actively involved in the Georgia Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Leadership Atlanta, and Habitat for Humanity.

Turner holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Morehouse College and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned his Master's of Business Administration in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at Harvard Business School and the London Business School in London, England.
