                              Activity

MADRID, Spain, Sept. 12, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, today announced the approval of the Ministry of Science and Innovation for the "Research in Technologies for Migration Management" (INTEGRA) project, which is part of the CENIT program. The project, led by Telvent, will represent an investment of 28 million euros.

The INTEGRA project, carried out by a consortium composed of fifteen Spanish companies (including GMV, Amper, Boeing and Isdefe, among others) and twenty-five research institutions, will have a four-year duration.

The new project will develop an integrated system for managing migratory movements from country of origin to country of destination, closing borders to illegal people and irregular traffic without disrupting regular activity occurring within the realm of legality and regulation. Furthermore, it will provide the tools needed for obtaining, processing, analyzing and generating valid and reliable information, enabling the creation of a known environment.

INTEGRA sets forth the advancement of basic technologies for the future that will enable the evolution of the migratory control concept toward a vision of migration management. This vision is one of the most striking aspects of the proposed solution, as it encompasses all preventive, control and integration initiatives involving immigrants and entails the new concept of the extended border, which includes country of origin, transit area, regulated and unregulated border crossings, and the country of the destination itself.

Telvent will assume the leadership of this project and will develop the corresponding applications at its Security Center located in the headquarters of the National Institute of Communication Technologies (INTECO) in Leon. Through this same center, Telvent monitors and manages the Identica and Globe projects, involving security and control of Spanish and European borders, respectively.

Manuel Sanchez Ortega, chairman of Telvent, stated that "Telvent's leadership in the INTEGRA project reaffirms our technological commitment to security and our firm belief in enhancing public-private collaboration for developing innovative projects to ensure secure common space."

At present, Telvent collaborates with various international organizations and institutions in the search for solutions that favor a more secure environment. This selection represents yet another step forward in Telvent's consolidation as a benchmark in security, research and development, and reflects the company's commitment to offering global solutions to citizens and their administrations.
