Tying PR to Your Thoughtleading Strategy: "The Expert's Edge" Shows How Thoughtleaders Get Press That Counts
| Quelle: emerson consulting group
CONCORD, MA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2008) - Yoking traditional public relations with the
other pillars of a thoughtleading strategy can pay big dividends for anyone
who wants to become known as an expert in his field, says Ken Lizotte,
author of "The Expert's Edge: Become the Go-To Authority People Turn to
Every Time" (http://thoughtleading.com/book_experts-edge.htm).
But don't waste a lot of time on traditional press release subjects.
Instead, tie news releases to your thoughtleading actions: publishing and
public speaking, he says.
Publish an article in prestigious trade magazine? Write and issue a press
release with a link to the full article online.
You can also announce publication of a book, a speaking engagement or
survey results with press releases.
"Your core message becomes a thread running through all your thoughtleading
actions. Press releases can be distributed announcing every one of them,"
Lizotte writes.
But releases are only part of PR. Being "available, informative, candid
and forthcoming as you possibly can" goes a long way toward making you a
hit with the media -- including traditional print and broadcast outlets, as
well as bloggers and other social media mavens.
Lizotte adds: "Think about what makes you different." Whatever you can do
to show the media you're special or unique will help garner media
attention. It could be as simple as an unusual professional designation.
These tips are included in Chapter 12, "Pillar 5: Making Vigorous Use of
the Media," which also covers the biggest PR mistakes to avoid.
"The Expert's Edge" from McGraw-Hill gives detailed step-by-step
instructions how anyone who's an expert in almost anything can become "the
go-to authority people turn to every time."
