SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - November 30, 2008) - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a
leading provider of advanced visualization software, announced integration
of the company's Aquarius iNtuition advanced visualization solution with
many leading PACS vendors at the 94th Annual Meeting of the Radiological
Society of North America (RSNA), held at McCormick Place, Chicago.
Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) are used for the
storage, distribution and interpretation of radiological images in
healthcare. PACS and teleradiology systems represent a fast-growing, multi
billion dollar market globally.
At RSNA 2008, TeraRecon will be showcasing the latest release of Aquarius
iNtuition, a powerful thin-client server-based solution which offers a full
suite of workstation-class clinical tools, including cardiac and vascular
analysis, endovascular aortic repair planning, lung and colon review, and
time-density analysis. All these applications can now be seamlessly
integrated into PACS via TeraRecon's client-server architecture which
places minimal demands on the PACS workstation's processing resources or
the institution's network infrastructure.
iNtuition now supports the TeraRecon PACS Application Programming Interface
(API) which supports a contextual launch from within the worklists of
various PACS vendors' products, including Agfa, Amicas, DR Systems,
Emageon, Fuji, GE (including the former Dynamic Imaging), Intelerad,
McKesson, Philips (formerly Stentor), Sectra and others. At RSNA 2008,
integration of the Aquarius iNtuition solution will be showcased on the
booths of the following PACS vendors; McKesson, Agfa, Agfa HeartLab,
Emageon/HSS, DR Systems and MetaFusion.
"INtuition is the perfect complement for a modern PACS installation,"
stated Robert Taylor, PhD, TeraRecon president and chief operating officer.
"While PACS performs admirably for storage, distribution, and the primary
diagnostic interpretation of most radiological images, radiology and other
departments in a healthcare enterprise today also expect integrated access
to best-in-class advanced visualization applications, and this is where
TeraRecon excels. Our unique system architecture enables a simple, elegant
but very powerful integration with PACS systems to share data, to be aware
of context, and to seamlessly integrate into the reading workflow as if
TeraRecon's solutions were a native part of the PACS environment, while
still taking advantage of TeraRecon's rapid development trajectory for new
applications."
In addition to the advanced client applications supported by Aquarius
iNtuition, results can also be distributed far and wide via iNtuition's
AquariusWEB viewer. AquariusWEB overcomes many obstacles in today's secure
IT environment, which restricts download or installation of software on
enterprise computer systems. AquariusWEB is a fully browser-based viewer
that delivers live, interactive 3D to the medical specialists who are the
ultimate end users of imaging data. AquariusWEB allows interpreting
physicians to deliver a secure URL link via an email or the patient record,
so that referring physicians can instantly access, review and interact with
the volumetric dataset. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer,
Firefox, Safari and Chrome. AquariusWEB also features a mobile edition
compatible with the iPhone.
