Lysaker, 4 December 2008 Nord Pool announces that Vattenfall AB will start as market maker of Nord Pool's German derivatives contracts on 4 December 2008. After the launch in January 2008, approximately 40 TWh of German power derivatives have been traded and cleared at Nord Pool. Year to date, 2 444 TWh have been traded and cleared at Nord Pool including international contracts, exceeding the same period in 2007 by 256 TWh or 12 per cent. Nord Pool in cooperation with NASDAQ OMX Commodities offers a single platform for trading and clearing of Nordic, German and Dutch power contracts as well as emissions contracts. The two companies provide access to the world's largest power derivatives markets and one of Europe's largest carbon markets.
