Network Managers' Salaries Rise 14% in 2009 While Most IT Salaries Remain Flat From 2008 to 2009, According to Bluewolf IT Resourcing and Staffing Research

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - While most information technology salaries will not increase in 2009, network managers will see a starting salary spike of 14%, according to research conducted by Bluewolf (www.bluewolf.com/09salaryguide) on salaries in the Tri-state region (New York, Conn. and New Jersey). Network manager salaries will range from $70,000 to $110,000, up from $70,000 to $95,000 in 2008. "The downturn in the economy is undoubtedly impacting the IT sector, but there are a few bright spots," said Michael Kirven, co-founder and principal of Bluewolf. "Companies are still making investments in several key areas, including network administration and security, business intelligence, wireless communications and web applications -- these areas continue to drive aggressive hiring."

According to the Bluewolf IT Resourcing and IT Staffing research, the following IT positions are among those that will see salary changes in 2009:

*eCommerce analyst salaries will rise 5% to between $65,000 and $100,000

*Web developer salaries are also predicted to rise from a high of $85,000 in 2008 to $90,000 in 2009

*Project managers will earn an average starting salary of between $85,000 and $125,000 annually, a decrease from last year's high range of $150,000

*Application systems analyst salaries will decline to $65,000-$85,000 from a high of $65,000-$100,000 in 2008

Kirven added, "Skills that continue to be in high demand are those in technologies such as Java, .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint and Web 2.0. Plus, we see continued demand for IT professionals in health care, education and high tech."

NOTE: The Bluewolf salary research is primarily focused on New York area salaries, which are approximately 50% higher than the national average. In addition, salary ranges in the Northeast and West Coast are approximately 25% higher than the national average.
