Teresis Announces Enhanced Support for Mac Users

Editors Now Enjoy Improved Remote Access and Uninterrupted Teresis Online(tm) Service After Completing Mac Updates

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 9, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Teresis Media Management Inc., the leading provider of tapeless workflow and digital asset management technologies for the entertainment and broadcast industries, today announced enhanced support for its Mac users. Responding to the needs of its client base, the company now offers its Teresis Online users uninterrupted service after Mac users accept updates from Apple, as well as improved streaming capabilities for remote users.

Most film and television production staff use Mac computers. Although Teresis Online has supported the Mac operating system (OS) for years, keeping up with all the possible Mac configuration variations was difficult and costly. Consequently, every time users updated their iTunes or accepted Apple's updates to Java, Safari, QuickTime Player or the Mac OS, it changed their computer's configuration in such a way that became problematic when using Teresis Online. This resulted in interrupted service from Teresis.

To remedy the situation, Teresis has revamped its Teresis Online subscription service to eliminate any dependencies on Mac OS configurations. The company has re-engineered its GUI to be completely independent of the Mac OS, Java, QuickTime and Safari. Its new version supports all Intel-based Mac computers.

With this new enhanced support for Mac, television and film production staff who primarily use Mac platforms for production work can now accept Apple's updates without disabling Teresis Online. It also frees up users to update their iTunes without interrupting their Teresis Online service. There is no longer a difference in functionality or experience between the Mac or Windows platforms when using Teresis. The company has also improved its streaming capabilities, making it easier for remote users to work from anywhere, at anytime.

"We continually aim to make the jobs of television producers, writers and editors easier by improving the efficiency and usability of the technologies they use in all phases of production," said Teresis' President and CEO, Keri DeWitt. "Adding these enhancements and capabilities greatly increases our compatibility with the Mac OS, creating a seamless and transparent experience for the user, and increasing the productivity of our clients."

Teresis' browser-based "software as a service" platform offers a broad spectrum of pre and post production tools that enable producers, directors, writers, editors and production companies to create scripts and storyboards, and digitize, log, transcribe, search, annotate and edit footage collaboratively and remotely using a Mac or PC.
