Excitement Builds for Sensors Expo & Conference to Be Held June 8-10, 2009 in Rosemont, IL

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - May 19, 2009) - Thousands of engineers, scientists and technology executives have made plans to attend the 23rd annual Sensors Expo & Conference. This leading industry event for the market of sensors and related industry technology will offer a dynamic show floor with many exciting features including The Application Showcase Theater, the Energy Harvesting Pavilion, the Best of Sensors Awards, the FIRST Robotics high school champions demonstrating their robots, plus access to the International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show. The Sensors Expo & Conference will be taking place June 8-10, 2009 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL.

One of the highlights on the show floor is The Application Showcase Theater. Executives from ten exhibiting companies will give free educational sessions. On Tuesday executives from MircoStrain, Advanced Cerametrics, Inc., Microchip Technology, Inc., Tadiran Batteries, Infinite Power Solutions, PowerCast and Cymbet Corporation will present information about new technologies, products and services that are now available on the market. On Wednesday, June 10, executives from StackableUSB, Perpetuum, and KCF Technologies will make presentations.

The Application Showcase Theater will be located in The Energy Harvesting Pavilion which will feature vendors that provide Energy Harvesting & Power Management solutions capable of capturing, converting, storing and delivering energy in a form that can be used to provide the power needed by the system it serves.

On Tuesday afternoon, Melanie Martella, Executive Editor of Sensors magazine, will present gold, silver, bronze, and honorable mention awards to exhibitors in eight categories: Sensors, Sensor Components, Peripherals and Interfaces, Special materials, Data Acquisition Products, Communications & Networking Products, Control Products, and Technologies. Exhibitors submitted new product nominations and entries were judged on the basis of potential impact, application, distinctiveness, timeliness, and availability.

Also on Tuesday, from 1:30 - 2:30 pm attendees will have a chance to meet the Chicago Bulls Lovabulls Dance Team at Hoffmann + Krippner, booth, #415. Attendees can get their picture taken, autographs, posters, and a chance to win two tickets to the Chicago Bulls Season Opening Game for the 2009/2010 season. To enter to win, attendees have to drop their business card at the Hoffman + Krippner booth.

Another highlight on the Expo floor will be the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Midwest Championship team. Students from the local Illinois area, including the FIRST Champions from Rolling Meadows, Wheeling and Prospect High Schools will showcase their hand built robots in action at Booth #527. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people.

All attendees to the Sensors Expo will have access to The International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show, North America's only event focused on robotics, machine vision and motion control technology. Co-sponsored by the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Automated Imaging Association (AIA) and the Motion Control Association (MCA), the show will feature some 150 global suppliers of industrial robots, machine vision systems, motion control products, accessory equipment, engineering services, and turnkey systems.

Sensors will have an expanded conference program offering 18 tracks with a focus on data acquisition, data analysis, wireless, M-2-M and communications while continuing to address the challenges of integration and interoperability. Keynote speakers are Dr. Kevin R. Grazier, Investigation Scientist & Science Planning Engineer, Cassini/Huygens Mission to Saturn & Titan, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) who will deliver the opening day keynote "Five Years at Saturn: The Cassini/Huygens Mission." Beth Wozniak, President of Sensing and Control, Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions, will present "A World of Interconnected Sensors" on Wednesday morning.

The pre-conference symposia will be held Monday, June 8 from 9 am - 5 pm. The Expo Hall, featuring over 150 vendors showcasing new solutions and services will be open on Tuesday, June 9th from 10 am - 5 pm and on Wednesday, June 10th from 10 am - 3 pm. Conference sessions will run from 10 am - 4 pm both days with keynote presentations starting at 9:00 am. The event will take place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N.
