Paglo Delivers Free SaaS Service for Monitoring Amazon EC2 Instances

The On-Demand Service Integrates With the Recently Announced Amazon CloudWatch API for Indexing and Reporting on the Health and Performance of EC2 Instances

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2009) - Paglo (www.Paglo.com), the leading on-demand IT management company, announced today its new Amazon EC2 monitoring application. Information technology and cloud computing professionals can now automatically index, search, and visualize the health and performance statistics being generated from their cloud-based applications in real-time.

The Paglo service works with the Amazon CloudWatch API to gather EC2 resource utilization, performance and overall user demand patterns. This includes critical metrics for ensuring operational excellence such as CPU utilization, disk reads and writes and network traffic. The new application is free to use and provides the following benefits:

-- A single platform for monitoring on-premise and cloud-based
    infrastructure and applications

-- Automated collection and secure storage of Amazon EC2 health and
    performance data

-- The ability to search and analyze historical data about Amazon EC2
    instances

-- Automated alerting based on customer-defined thresholds with email and
    SMS (via Twitter) notification options

"We were thrilled to see Amazon announce CloudWatch so we could help our customers monitor the performance of their EC2 instances," said Dr. Chris Waters, Paglo CTO. "Within a few days of the Amazon announcement, we extended the open source Paglo Crawler with a Ruby plugin to gather data via the CloudWatch API. The new capabilities further Paglo's vision of allowing companies and IT consultants to collect everything and create a system-of-record for IT and Operations -- no matter where their applications are running."

To use Paglo and the new Amazon EC2 monitoring capabilities, customers simply need to have or sign up for a Paglo account and choose to use the Amazon CloudWatch plugin. In addition, they need to log in to their Amazon account and select the EC2 instance(s) that they would like to monitor. Within minutes, the data will begin to be fed into the customer's Paglo account where it can be searched and analyzed through charts and dashboards.
