ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - June 15, 2009) - Enterasys, the network infrastructure and security division of Siemens Enterprise Communications Group, today announced that Quiksilver Australia, the Australian operating entity of leading outdoor sports lifestyle company Quiksilver, Inc., has selected Enterasys as its core network provider for retail and corporate locations across Australia and New Zealand. The high-performance network delivers support for retail, operations, design and distribution applications in real-time to Quiksilver Australia's dynamic business environment and customer base. High-speed, secure connectivity from Enterasys gives Quiksilver's staff confidence in the transfer of large graphics files by the company's design teams as well as communications for hand-held inventory tracking devices in Quiksilver Australia's distribution centers.
Quiksilver Australia began the search for a new networking provider to replace existing, outmoded infrastructure. Enterasys was selected based on its reliability, broad range of advanced security features, pricing, and local service and support. The new Enterasys network optimizes availability and performance to keep Quiksilver's operations running smoothly. Simple and stable operations were critical when Quiksilver, with a network operations staff of only two people, recently expanded its distribution center in Australia.
"The Enterasys solution has rock-solid performance, and its pricing blows the competition out of the water," said Glen Stewart, systems engineer at Quiksilver Australia. "With Enterasys, our infrastructure can easily handle massive waves of traffic and adapt to rapid changes in our business demands. We now consistently exceed our SLA goals for network performance and uptime, which gives us more time to focus on strategic projects and planning for the future."
The solution includes Enterasys N-Series switches in the network core and A-Series and B-Series switches in the distribution center, offering high-capacity switching and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities to power Voice over IP (VoIP) and wireless devices. Over the next 12 months, Stewart says he plans to utilize advanced virtualization security features in the Enterasys switches to provide granular data center protection, and accommodate further expansion.
"Enterasys has given us excellent service. The knowledge and expertise of our Enterasys team played a key role in designing and implementing the new network, and they continue to support us on an ongoing basis," continued Stewart. "Our local Enterasys representatives listened to our requirements and found the right solution to fit our needs and stay within our tight budget."
