Canyon Acres' 24th Annual Par Fore Kids Golf Classic to Take Place July 20, 2009 At Yorba Linda Country Club

Tim Salmon and Chuck Finley Return as Honorary Celebrity Guests

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., June 17, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced that this year's Par Fore Kids Golf Classic will take place on Monday, July 20 at the Yorba Linda Country Club. Canyon Acres also announced that Tim Salmon and Chuck Finley will return as celebrity guests. Proceeds from the event will benefit Canyon Acres' signature programs and services.

"The Par Fore Kids Golf Classic is always one of Canyon Acres' most enjoyable and important fundraising events," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "This year more than ever, funds raised will go a long way to helping programs like Wraparound and Creating Family Connections -- especially as public funding for these programs continues to fluctuate. We are especially grateful to Tim Salmon, Chuck Finley and to event co-chairs Barbara D'Amato and Tom Sarnecki for their efforts in making the event possible."

Canyon Acres' Wraparound services literally help families in crisis become "wrapped" by the community, helping children avoid the trauma of being removed from their homes. Wraparound Services also helps families become safe, healthy and self-sustaining. Creating Family Connections searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who have been in the child welfare system for many years, offering a family connection that gives children a sense of belonging and hope.

The Classic will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 20th at the Yorba Linda Country Club and, in addition to 18 holes of championship golf, there will be continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, a live auction and an awards ceremony. Sponsorship opportunities range from $250 for an individual golfer to $20,000 for a title sponsor. Current sponsors include The Kent H. Landsberg Co., Code Restaurant, KOCE, Bock Communications, Yard House Restaurants, Crevier BMW, and A. Gary Anderson Family Foundation.

Honorary celebrity guest Chuck Finley played professional baseball for the Anaheim Angels, the Cleveland Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals. He holds unique distinction as the only Major League baseball player to strike out four batters in a single inning more than once.

Honorary celebrity guest Tim Salmon, one of the greatest players in the Angels' franchise history, was part of the team's magical run to the 2002 World Championship.
