ROK Teams Up With Children's Film Society of India for Mobile TV Delivery Worldwide

CFSI Content to Debut On Mobile Phones On BSNL's 'Tiny TV'

LONDON and MUMBAI, India, June 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ROK Entertainment Group, the mobile technology, applications and services company, today announced it has secured the rights to stream content provided by the Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) to Mobile TV subscribers worldwide.

Beginning with the ROK-powered Mobile TV service 'Tiny TV' operated across India by BSNL, ROK will be deploying CFSI channels into its various Mobile TV services around the world, going-forward.

The concept of what is now CFSI was originally mooted by India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who inspired its foundation in 1955 with the aim of organizing the production, distribution and exhibition of feature films and shorts for children.

The first CFSI production 'Jaldeep' directed by Kedar Sharma, was an adventure story centered around a lighthouse which went on to win the first prize at the 1957 Venice Film Festival for Children's Films. Since then several talented and committed filmmakers such as Satyen Bose, Mohan Kaul and Rajindar Sharma were enthused to make films for children through CFSI along with other Indian movie stalwarts such as Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Tapan Sinha, Sai Paranjpye and Santosh Sivan.

CFSI controls a vast library of movies to include animation and puppet films as well as short documentaries and news magazines on subjects of special interest to children.

"We see mobile phones as a fantastic, fast-growing and brand new distribution channel for our movies not just across India but worldwide as well," said Mr. Sushovan Banerjee, CEO of the Children's Film Society of India, "and, as pioneers in children's movies we are delighted to be working with ROK on the delivery of our content to a new generation of children in this new manner."

ROK Entertainment, with offices in Delhi, is best known for its high quality Mobile TV service which streams video content, live and on-demand, to mobile phones.

"Interest in CFSI movies on ROK TV will be massive," said Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman and CEO of ROK, "not just in India but, we suspect, to the Indian communities and those interested in Indian culture elsewhere around the world."
