About the Author

From the moment he was born in 1922, Jack Zimmerman was a fighter. He weighed 2.2 pounds and never did grow to be very big, except in talent and in heart.

He is an introvert, an extrovert, a recluse and an egoist. Whether it's pugilism, poetry, pigeons or polkas his name will eventually come up.

Zimmerman was born and raised in Osceola, IN where he raised and raced pigeons, became a boxer, a coach, an entertainer, and poet.

He graduated from Mishawaka High School, served in WWII, and studied journalism at Indiana University and Notre Dame.

Each poem invokes a vivid image and a story from Jack. "My poems are more or less accidents. I didn't exactly select them, they just evolved."
