Clariant opens strategic production facility in Zhenjiang, China

 

The new state-of-the-art 50,000 square meter facility has a capacity of more than 22,000 tones per annum. The plant includes the very latest environmental technology. Zhenjiang will serve China's domestic customers in personal care, paints and coatings as well as metal working industries. Other products available at the plant will include chemicals for textile, oil, mining and homecare segments.

 

Zhenjiang is strategically well located on the Yangtze river between Nanjing and Shanghai, within reach of Clariant's key customers in the region. This facility will complement the company's already well-established manufacturing capabilities in the country. 

 

The new plant is part of a USD 100 million investment program Clariant has made in China during the last 18 months. It builds on Clariant's long experience in Greater China and is core to the company's commitment to supplying customers in this market. Clariant employs more than 1,300 staff at its laboratories, production facilities and offices in over 13 locations across Greater China. 

 

"Clariant's operations in Greater China have grown substantially in recent years, with a high double digit growth rate in some key segments such as personal care. This new facility will enable us to meet the needs of the growing Chinese and wider Asian markets, which have remained strong despite the global economic downturn," said Hariolf Kottmann, Clariant CEO, during his official inauguration speech at the Zhenjiang plant.
