Affitech Announces New Scientific Findings for its r84 Fully Human VEGF/VEGFR2 Selective Antibody

	r84 as Efficacious as Avastin®/bevacizumab and Sutent®/sunitinib in a
Preclinical Model of Cancer;

	r84 Limits Emergence of Immunosuppression in Three Preclinical Models of
Cancer.

Copenhagen and Oslo, November 6th, 2009
Affitech A/S, (Nasdaq OMX: AFFI), the antibody medicines company, today
announced the publication of new results of preclinical testing of its r84
antibody programme.

New Results

	In a preclinical model which compared r84 with both Avastin®/bevacizumab
(Genentech/Roche's highly successful therapeutic antibody approved for a
variety of cancer indications) and Sutent®/sunitinib (Pfizer's tyrosine kinase
inhibitor approved for an advanced renal cell carcinoma and gastrointestinal
stromal tumor), r84 performed at least as well as both these approved therapies
in its ability to inhibit cancer growth.

	In this same preclinical model r84 was superior to both Avastin®/bevacizumab)
and Sutent®/sunitinib in its ability to limit the presence of immunosuppressive
cells in the tumour microenvironment.

	In two other preclinical models of breast cancer, (4T1 and MMTV-PyMT), a
murine version of r84 (mcr84) was compared to Sutent®/sunitinib. mcr84
outperformed Sutent®/sunitinib in controlling tumour growth in each model.
Additionally, mcr84 and Sutent®/sunitinib were both effective at limiting the
presence of immunosuppressive cells in the 4T1 tumour microenvironment but
mcr84 was more effective at controlling immune cell infiltration into MMTV-PyMT
tumours. Furthermore, mcr84 was more effective than Sutent®/sunitinib at
facilitating the recruitment of mature dendritic cells to the tumour
microenvironment (mature dendritic cells are thought to indicate an increased
likelihood of a positive activating immune response rather then suppression of
immune effects).

	The results are published in the November edition of the scientific journal,
PLoS One, by Rolf A Brekken, PhD and colleagues at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas Texas, USA and access to a copy of the
publication can be found on the Affitech website at
http://www.affitech.com/cms/site.aspx?p=909.

Commenting on these new results, Dr Alex Duncan, Affitech's CSO and SVP of R&D,
said:

“r84 is an exciting potential product opportunity for us. These latest
results, from the Brekken lab, although still preclinical, are part of a
systematic plan to show how r84 compares with the market leader, Avastin®.
They are very encouraging even though they are still quite early. A major
problem in cancer treatment is the suppression of patients' immune responses in
the local microenvironment of the tumour itself and these results give us some
early indications that r84 may be superior to both Avastin®/bevacizumab and
Sutent®/sunitinib in its ability to resist important aspects of immune
suppression.”

Strategic Focus on Cell Surface Drug Targets

Affitech's business strategy now focuses on the use of the Company's
proprietary CBASTM technology platform for the discovery and development of
novel, therapeutically relevant antibodies to complex cell surface targets.
Using its proprietary CBASTM platform, Affitech has made significant progress
over the past 12 months in generating antibodies to G-protein coupled receptors
(GPCRs). Such receptor-targeted antibodies have the potential to become
breakthrough medicines of the future improving patient outcomes across a range
of human diseases.

In addition, Affitech is continuing to develop r84/ AT001, a new, highly
selective antibody to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Full
commercial rights to r84/AT001, previously in development at Peregrine
Pharmaceuticals Inc., (Nasdaq: PPHMD) (Peregrine) were secured in a deal
announced by the Company and Peregrine earlier this year (in July, 2009).
r84/AT001 is distinctive because it selectively blocks VEGF from binding to
VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2), while less selective agents such as
Avastin®/bevacizumab and Sutent®//sunitinib interfere with signaling from both
VEGFR2 and VEGF receptor 1 (VEGFR1). Selective anti-VEGF agents such as
r84/AT001 may have efficacy advantages over non-selective approaches as well as
potentially an improved side effect profile. In addition, the fully human
nature of the r84/AT001 antibody minimizes the risk of an immune response
against the drug itself, thereby lessening the potential for immunological side
effects and neutralization of the treatment effect. As a fully human antibody,
r84/AT001 may also have better pharmacokinetic properties in patients.

It is likely that Affitech will seek a co-development partner for r84/AT001
once its pharmacological characteristics have been more fully defined.

About Affitech
Affitech AS is a publically traded (Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen exchange) human
therapeutic antibody company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark with R&D
facilities in Oslo, Norway. The company utilizes a range of proprietary
antibody technologies for the discovery of fully human antibodies for
application in oncology, inflammation and other disease areas. CBAS™ (Cell
Based Antibody Selection) is Affitech's premier discovery engine for the
isolation of lead antibodies to cell surface molecules in situ. It can also be
utilized in a “reverse-screening” approach for discovering antibodies and their
cognate targets utilizing disease-specific cells. Several of the Company's
proprietary product candidates were generated by CBAS™. Further information is
