About the Author
The author was born Phillip John Lesbirel in March 1949 on the small island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands off the west coast of France. He was educated at the Guernsey Grammar School for Boys until 1965, when his family immigrated to Australia. Lesbirel started to work as a trainee Chartered Accountant, but after three years realized this was not for him. He then changed to retail sales, reaching the position of Group State Buyer for Homewares with David Jones in Queensland, Australia. After a serious car accident at the age of twenty-eight and eight months of treatment and rehabilitation, he joined the Royal Australian Air Force and trained as a Motor Mechanic/Diesel Fitter, and retired in 2002 after twenty-five years of service. He is currently self-employed as a tourist coach operator in Cairns on the far north tropical coast. The author started to write about six years ago but this book, Growth of Love is his second published work, his first being A Trip to Hell. Lesbirel now lives and works in Cairns with his partner Stephen Linard, a well known fashion designer from the 80s and early 90s.
