DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Jan. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Boca Java, Inc., a leading retailer of fresh-roasted gourmet coffee, announced today they will be serving coffee at BrandsMart U.S.A. this weekend with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund.
Known for its heavy involvement with several charitable organizations, Boca Java will be donating, brewing and serving coffee and bagels this Saturday, January 23rd at BrandsMart U.S.A. located at the corner of I-95 and Southwest 10th Street in Deerfield Beach from 10 am until 1 pm to benefit relief efforts in Haiti.
"Our hearts have been broken by the catastrophic devastation in Haiti," said Stan Krangel, President, BocaJava.com. "The sadness runs deep not only for the nation, but also for the Boca Java family itself because we have many employees who have worked with us for years who have been directly impacted by the quake - losing loved ones, friends and homes. You can only imagine the somber, sobering atmosphere at our company in the days following the quake. We couldn't just sit back and do nothing," Krangel continued.
The company recently ran a drive to donate one dollar per bag of their coffee sold to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund, and was given the opportunity to partner with BrandsMart U.S.A. to sell coffee and bagels to anyone visiting its Deerfield Beach location. The company will charge one dollar each for a cup of coffee and a bagel with 100% of proceeds going directly to the same Red Cross fund.
"We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with other local businesses opening up their hearts and rolling up their sleeves in an effort to help play a role in support of the people of Haiti," said Mary Maino, Director of People and Administration, BocaJava.com. "We have a very strong connection to Haiti, as does the rest of South Florida, and we will do anything and everything we are capable of to help ease the nightmare this unthinkable disaster has caused."
Joining the effort this weekend is local bagel favorite, The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company of Delray Beach. They will be donating fresh bagels and filtered water for the coffee to be sold for the charity. Also joining the effort is local branding solutions provider, Blue Ocean Press, who has donated all of the printed materials- including coupons to be distributed - and services for the event.
