GSC Logistics Among Select Carriers Given 'Green' Light to Enter Port of Oakland

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwire - January 26, 2010) - GSC Logistics, Inc., (GSC) the industry's forward-thinking logistics provider, continues to lead the way in adherence to new emission regulations mandated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). GSC's truck fleet, recently expanded from 140 to 170 trucks, became 100 percent compliant with the stringent CARB directive -- designed to help remove dangerous greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from equipment operating in the state of California's Port of Oakland -- on October 1, 2009, three months ahead of the January 1, 2010 CARB deadline. Because of its proactive commitment to begin upgrading its entire fleet well in advance of the deadline, GSC is free to conduct business as usual at the Port of Oakland.

In some cases other carriers have been unable to meet the strict CARB standards. As a result, CARB extended its official deadline for compliance to January 19, 2010. This date has now passed with many carriers still non-compliant -- and, as a result, they are banned from access into the Port using electronic readers causing some sporadic delays.

Carriers who met eligibility requirements for state grants to pay for 'green' retrofits have until February 5, 2010 to provide documentation that they can finance the difference between total costs and grants. If approved by CARB, these truckers will have until April 30, 2010 to upgrade their trucks. If unable to meet this deadline or financing requirements, they will be banned from entering the Port beginning February 16, 2010.
