IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - The University of California, Irvine Extension,
the continuing education arm of UC Irvine, today announced the availability
of a new online course for spring 2010 titled "Mobile Development for Apple
iPhone and iTouch." Taught by software development expert Ralf Brockhaus,
the five-week intensive programming course will teach students how to
navigate Apple's unique development settings; distinguish Apple's strategy
from Microsoft and Blackberry offerings; and develop mobile applications in
Objective C, before testing and installing them to the iPhone.
"The current popularity of Apple technology in the marketplace makes this
course extremely timely and relevant," said Dr. Dave Dimas, director of UC
Irvine Extension's engineering, sciences and information technology
programs. "UC Irvine Extension is thrilled to be at the forefront of
teaching this technology to students online, with the potential to reach
participants all over the country."
Starting April 26, students will receive an introduction to specific mobile
phone features, including: the accelerometer, touch screen, GEO
positioning, sound and Web access. "Mobile Development for Apple iPhone and
iTouch" is designed for developers and testers, as well as business
analysts looking to gain a better understanding of software development
technology.
"This cutting-edge technology course is extremely hands-on in nature,"
stated Ralf Brockhaus course instructor and release manager for the
Business Process Manager and Active Content Suite at IBM. "We will be
dissecting the complex nature of Apple mobile development concepts into
easy-to-understand steps, with the end-result being the creation of an
Apple application."
Brockhaus is a seasoned veteran in software development and project
management with 20 years of industry experience, including six years with
Microsoft.Net. Currently, he works as release manager for IBM Business
Process Manager and Active Content Suite.
An information session Webinar will also be offered on March 18 from 11:30
