SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - April 6, 2010) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switches, today announced the availability of the SK Series of miniature panel mount keylock switches. Offered in either a two- or three-tumbler configuration, SK Series switches are ideal for designs requiring cost effective, space-saving and minimum to medium security switching.
In addition to the two- and three-tumbler configurations available for the SK Series, engineers can also specify two or three position models, with keys removable in one, two or all three positions. Additional customization options are also available upon request.
These devices feature a 12mm diameter bushing for standard panel openings and a behind panel dimension of 27.0mm. The compact dimensions make the SK Series a perfect solution for applications where high density mounting and a short behind-panel-depth are required.
The SK Series' crisp and positive detent mechanism ensures accurate switch settings. In addition, the SK keylocks have a high dielectric strength of 1,500 volts between contacts and case. The mechanical life of the SK Series is rated at 30,000 operations minimum, while electrical life at 10,000 operations minimum.
SK Series devices are available in single pole, double throw circuit configurations and the contacts are non-shorting (break before make). The two position ON-ON models have 90 degree indexing between settings, while the three position, ON-OFF-ON models have 45 degree indexing.
The series features a dust resistant interior construction to protect the contacts. Terminals are solder lug and are epoxy sealed to prevent the entry of flux and other contaminants. The operating temperature range is -13 through +158 degrees Fahrenheit.
The medium security SK devices with three tumblers are rated 3A @ 125V AC and are UL and C-UL Recognized. They are supplied with one key each to increase security performance. Keys are brass with nickel plating. If additional keys are required, they can be ordered by indicating the key number that is engraved on the face of the switch. Tumbler barrels are zinc alloy with a shiny chrome finish.
Minimum security versions of the SK Series, featuring two tumblers, are rated 3A @ 125V AC and 1A @ 250V AC and are also UL and C-UL Recognized and CSA Certified. Keys and tumbler barrel for the low security models are constructed of zinc alloy with a matte chrome finish. Each switch is supplied standard with two keys. Additional keys can be ordered separately.
