Carolyn is a great advocate in her community leadership for the Business Council's key initiatives to enhance infrastructure investment, increase supply of workforce housing, continue the economic development of Orange County, and promote solid education programs to ensure a skilled 21st century workforce.

Carolyn became active in Orange City government because she felt families needed better representation at City Hall. After serving for 7 years on the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees, she was first elected to the Orange City Council in 2001. She was re-elected in 2002 and served as Mayor pro tem from 2003 to 2006. Carolyn was elected Mayor in November of 2006 and the re-elected in 2008 for a second term.
Carolyn also serves on OCBC's high-level OCMoves initiative which advocates for Orange County's transportation priorities at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as provides insight on behalf of the business community for the implementation of Measure M, renewed in 2006.
Carolyn Cavecche has received numerous awards and recognitions including: Orange Chamber of Commerce's 2007 "Commerce Award" for exceptional economic development results; 2007 Woman of the Year by the Orange County Women in Transportation Seminar; 2007 Elected Official of the Year for the State of California by the California Transportation Foundation. In 2008, Carolyn was named one of "20 Women to Watch in Orange County" by OC Metro Business Magazine. Mobility 21, Southern California's transportation coalition, named Mayor Cavecche the "Leader of the Year" in 2009 for her outstanding commitment and pursuit to better transportation in Southern California.
