Before launching his advisory firm, Ransomshire Associates, Dr. Ransom was worldwide CTO of Alcatel, where his responsibilities included managing corporate and product strategy, corporate research, R&D investments, and M&A strategy including such acquisitions as, Spatial Wireless, Watercove, PacketVideo, and TiMetra. Prior to that, he directed Alcatel's access and metro optical business in North America.

He serves on the advisory board of Ruckus Wireless and Quantenna Communications and served on the advisory board of Solomio (mobile applications) that was acquired by Openwave. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, BSEE and MSEE degrees from Old Dominion University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
