MAHWAH, NJ--(Marketwire - May 5, 2010) - Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) announces the appointment of Kozo Takahashi to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SEC, and Group General Manager, North & South America Group Sharp Corporation, effective April 1, 2010. He replaces Doug Koshima, who has transferred to a new assignment as General Manager, Central & South America, in the Global Market Development Group of Sharp Corporation, Japan.
Mr. Takahashi has spent 30 years with Sharp Corporation, most recently as Group General Manager in the Health and Environment Systems Group. This will be Mr. Takahashi's second assignment in the United States. He served as part of the management team of Sharp Electronics Corporation's business-to-business group from June 1997 to April 2001.
As Chairman and CEO, Mr. Takahashi will oversee overall direction, management and administration of all corporate operations for the company's various divisions, and will be responsible for the strategic vision for the company. Sharp Electronics Corporation is the U.S. sales and marketing subsidiary of Sharp Corporation, Osaka, Japan.
