BORDEAUX, FRANCE--(Marketwire - May 12, 2010) - The Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur Vintners' Association has retained the Napa-based agency, Balzac Communications & Marketing, and the Bordeaux-based Franco-American team at Vin'Animus to carry out its initial public relations effort in the United States. The program, named Planet Bordeaux after the Association's wine tourism center, is co-sponsored by the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB – Bordeaux Wine Bureau), and will complement their ongoing activities in the U.S.
More than 300 Planet Bordeaux wines are available in the US, most retailing for under $30 (winning 42 spots on 2010's Today's Bordeaux Top 100 list). Explains Bernard Farges, president of the winemakers' association, "Our goal is to continue to build relationships, and give Americans ways to explore the appellations, blends and class -- the ABCs -- of Planet Bordeaux. Whenever we are in the U.S., we always share our wines with American consumers and professionals the way we would at home -- convivial moments with good wines, good conversation and good food. We will be participating in the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition for the second year in a row this May, 2010." (www.lawinecomp.com)
The launch of a new www.planet-bordeaux.com will make it even easier for American wine lovers to access all information relating to the Bordeaux lifestyle in the United States, including a listing of retailers, wine schools, serving and food-pairing suggestions, a calendar of events, the best restaurant wine lists, and more. A Planet Bordeaux Twitter Taste Live virtual tasting will celebrate the launch, scheduled for July 2010. Until then, wine enthusiasts can find Planet Bordeaux on Facebook and Twitter, and discover more about the wines, the people who make them, and the art of Bordeaux Wine Country Living.
Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, covering over half of the world-famous Bordeaux wine region, produce accessible, beautiful, classy wines -- as simple as ABC. Red wines, typically dominant in Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, can be blended with Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Carmenére, and/or Petit Verdot, and range in style from unoaked and fruity to full-bodied and earthy. The White Bordeaux wines are made with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and/or Muscadelle and have fine acidity, balance and citrus fruit. Equally delicious are the rosé, sweet and sparkling wines of the region.
