McAfee Partners With Autonomic Software -- Will Integrate Autonomic's ANSA Platinum Technology Into ePolicy Orchestrator

DANVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - June 7, 2010) -  Autonomic Software, Inc., a provider of the most advanced enterprise IT power management solutions on the market, announced today that it has joined the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance partnership program and that McAfee has chosen Autonomic's agent-based ANSA technology for integration into McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator®, the only enterprise-class, open platform to centrally manage security for systems, networks, data, and compliance solutions.

ANSA (Autonomic Network & System Administrator) Platinum delivers a comprehensive network management and security solution with the smallest footprint in the industry. McAfee will integrate three ANSA components:

  • ANSA Power Management, which delivers policy-driven control over the energy settings of desktop and laptop computers. PG&E estimates that Power Manager saves over $60,000 per year in a typical 1,000 desktop enterprise.
  • ANSA Patch Management, a multi-function solution that includes: automated Patch Management technology, Software Distribution, and can be managed per site or across an entire multi-site enterprise from a single web-based user interface by one or more parties. Autonomic Patch Management includes Configuration Management that lets administrators enforce policies, regulations and security initiatives down to the desktop level and Asset Management that detects and reports on all software and hardware on any computer, network device, VoIP phone, wireless device, or Smartphone connected to the network.
  • Software Audit Compliance, insures only licensed software is on each network-attached system, limiting the risk of the significant fines levied against companies using unauthorized or pirated software -- even when they don't know or authorize it. The Business Software Alliance estimates that more than $51 billion dollars of unlicensed software was distributed in 2009. Penalties for using pirated software range from $125,000 to $250,000 per desktop. With this capability, administrators make sure such unlicensed software is automatically removed when it is discovered. Software Audit also protects clients from buying too many licenses, a practice that over 70% of all commercial clients unwittingly participate in.

"We're extremely pleased to have entered this relationship with McAfee and to have the opportunity to bring new and improved capabilities to ePolicy Orchestrator," said Tony Gigliotti, CEO and president of Autonomic Software. "Our application does more to increase productivity and save real dollars than our competitors do while using only about 1% of the lines of code. We are inherently lighter, more agile, and much easier to add new functions faster with much less time to market. For example, our Power Manager took less than 300 lines of code to develop. This technical advantage empowers Autonomic Software to make sure all our clients get exactly what they need. We call it agile customization."
