The program features more than 70 original research paper presentations,135 e-Posters, 3 award winning papers, special invited guest speakers, a course on CPT coding, industry driven and supported satellite symposia and an exhibit hall featuring the latest technology for orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery.
Leading orthopaedic surgeons specializing in foot and ankle surgery will participate in a Pre-meeting Course on Wednesday, July 7, titled, Innovations in Foot & Ankle Surgery: The Future is Here! chaired by Mark A. Glazebrook, MD of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Mark E. Easley, MD of Durham, NC will preside over the annual program beginning on Thursday, July 8 with an anticipated attendance of more than 550 orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons. The program features paper sessions and original research of AOFAS members and fellows on a variety of foot and ankle topics. Trevor Corson, New York, NY will deliver the Kenneth A. Johnson, MD Memorial Lecture titled, Sexy Lobster, Succulent Sushi: How We Can Save the Seas with Good Eating. The Guest Research Lecture will be given by Thomas D. Brown, PhD, Iowa City, IA on Building Effective Research Collaborations with Laboratory Investigators. Presidential Guest Speaker, Jill A. Fredston, BA, MPhil, Co-Director, Alaska Mountain Safety Center, Anchorage, Alaska will discuss Strategies for Dealing with Risk, Uncertainty, and Change.

Orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons are medical doctors (MD and DO) who specialize in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with disorders of the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle. This includes the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles tendons, nerves, and skin.
