FAIRFIELD, NJ and NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 20, 2010) - CampusCruiser® (formerly Timecruiser®), higher education's only source for affordable and scalable "in the cloud" (SaaS) solutions, and the Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN), today announced that HITN has adopted the CampusCruiser LMS™ and CampusCruiser PORTAL™ to support their Community Connect and Career Fast Track e-learning initiatives.
Community Connect™ is a coalition of local grass roots organizations, colleges, libraries and content providers that uses multimedia broadband technologies to provide a platform for Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to share successful program initiatives that address a variety of social, economic, educational, and health needs in largely underserved Latino communities.
The first of these initiatives, the Career Fast Track Distance Learning Program was launched in just one month's time on the CampusCruiser LMS. The program included a set of courses designed to help learners build skills and competencies for employment and career advancement in the fast-growing fields of Health Care and Construction. Students can earn Continuing Education Credits for their coursework. Courses are conducted via online multimedia content, and led by instructors from Lehman College and Manhattan College in New York City via videoconferencing.
"Career Fast Track and Community Connect are all about making quality programs more accessible and convenient to Latino communities nationwide," commented Henry Queiro, Vice President of CBO Connect, HITN. "With no hardware to buy, software to install, or upgrades to worry about, CampusCruiser's Software as a Service (SaaS) model allowed us to be up and running quickly and affordably. The solution's proven scalability will allow us to meet our rapid growth and expansion plans for the delivery of collaborative and active learning environments to our constituents nationwide. CampusCruiser LMS and PORTAL are exactly what we were looking for."
Courses currently available on Career Fast Track include:
- Retail Pharmacy Technician
- Residential Construction Superintendent
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Support
- Work Readiness Training
- GED en Español (GED in Spanish) Practice Tests
