WOBURN, MA--(Marketwire - July 29, 2010) - GerrityStone, New England's premier interior stonework specialist and winner of the Best of Boston Home Magazine's "2010 Best Kitchen & Bath Countertops," announced today the judges for their summer "Rock Your Kitchen" Contest.
Two grand prizes of up to $5,000 each will be given: one in the "Countertop Replacement" category, and one in the "Total Renovation" category. The winning kitchens will also be featured in advertisements in print and on the web following the contest.
GerrityStone has already received a number of entries since the contest opened on June 7. To enter, homeowners must submit one before and one after photo of their kitchen makeover, and tell in 92 words or less why their kitchen rocks. All homeowners who get new countertops from GerrityStone as part of their summer kitchen renovation are eligible to win. Entries will be accepted through September 10, 2010. Winners will be announced at the "Rock Your Kitchen" wrap-up party, hosted by 92.5 The River at GerrityStone in Woburn on October 2, 2010.
"I've personally seen some of the countertops that are entered, and I don't envy the judges -- they certainly have their work cut out for them already," said Jack Parquette, President of GerrityStone. Parquette added that a lot of thought went into finding these judges. "We didn't want to turn this into some sort of 'novelty' contest -- we are serious about choosing a winner based on each kitchen's merits. We've succeeded in getting a broad range of expertise in and out of the industry, and I thank them all for taking part," he said.
The judges include:
JAMES GERRITY - third-generation owner of the Gerrity Company, a company that traces its roots back to 1906. He joined full time in 1974 and guided the acquisition and development of GerrityStone in 1997 as an initiative of the Gerrity Company group. Today, GerrityStone is recognized as the premier stone importer and fabricator in New England.
REGINA COLE - a nationally recognized writer whose articles on architecture, interior design, and landscape design have appeared in numerous publications world-wide including web-based publications. She was a founding editor of Old-House Interiors and she regularly contributes to Design New England, Traditional Home; NewEngland Home, Ocean Home and Perspective New England.
KEITH LEMERISE - publisher of two regional magazines: Coastal Home and Taste of the Seacoast. He has shared his passion for home & garden and food & wine with readers of both publications for over 10 years.
DAWN WILLIS - owner of Great Spaces, Inc., a residential and commercial design/build firm based in Boxborough, MA. She has 18 years of experience in the industry, has numerous certifications in kitchen and bath design and is on the board of directors for the local chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
RITA CARY - a "rock" expert of a different kind as the morning drive-time D.J. for WXRV, 92.5 The River radio station, and media sponsor of the contest. She lives in Seacoast and has a passion for the local music scene.
