OAKBROOK, IL--(Marketwire - September 20, 2010) - Joint Commission International today announced the appointment of Paul vanOstenberg, D.D.S., M.S., as vice president of International Accreditation and Standards. JCI is the international division of Joint Commission Resources (JCR), a not-for-profit affiliate of The Joint Commission.
In this position, Dr. vanOstenberg will be responsible for all activities associated with the operation of the seven international accreditation and certification programs, development of standards, interpretation of standards and quality measurement. Previously, Dr. vanOstenberg served as senior executive director of International Accreditation, Standards and Quality Measures for JCI. He was also the first managing director for JCI's Asia Pacific and European offices.
As the first executive director of International Accreditation in 1998, Dr. vanOstenberg guided the development of international standards and survey methods and the promotion of JCI accreditation around the world as an effective safety and quality improvement tool.

Dr. vanOstenberg has a doctorate in dental surgery from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia and a master's in gerontology and health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida.
