NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 27, 2010) - HLP Klearfold, which earlier this year purchased the Klearfold trademark from MeadWestvaco as part of a rebranding effort, just inked another agreement with the company -- a license to produce the InSight visual package. InSight is the award-winning package best remembered for launching Procter and Gamble's Olay® Regenerist® product line in 2003. Kao Brands and Johnson & Johnson have also been significant InSight packaging users. "The acquisition of the InSight license allows us to offer customers yet another distinctive visual package and further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the visual packaging market," states Steve Frazier, Vice President of North America at HLP Klearfold.
"Although there have been imitators, nothing offers the clean lines, the distinctive appearance, and the functionality of the patented InSight package," claims Frazier. "I was responsible for manufacturing at MeadWestvaco's Klearfold business when we launched InSight and I remember the excitement in the market place. Insight was a completely new packaging platform, capable of supporting a premium brand's image, while differentiating the brand at the point of sale."
InSight combines printed and scored plastic sleeves with injection molded end caps to form a very distinctive visual package. The end caps and sleeves connect using a unique and efficient locking feature. Undercuts molded into the end caps engage die-cut tabs on the sleeve to securely join the components. End caps can be designed to permanently affix to the sleeve or to be easily removed with a quarter-twist.
InSight packages are essentially tubes where the end caps' shape determines the package's overall shape. In addition to the distinctive "cat's eye" or "pillow-pack" profile used by Olay and others, InSight is available in oval, round, rectangular, and many other profiles.
InSight packages are easy to hand load and are fully automatable. Printed sleeves are delivered flat with the locking tabs already in-folded. To fill, the sleeve is snapped into the bottom end cap, the product is top-loaded, and the top end cap is snapped in place.
HLP Klearfold also has a license for MeadWestvaco's InSight Slider® package, which produces similar package shapes to InSight, but by using locking, fold-over, vacuum-formed trays rather than injection molded end caps. InSight Slider is a more cost effective solution for smaller volume applications.
Samples of InSight and InSight Slider packaging will be exhibited at HLP/Klearfold's booth at two upcoming trade shows: HBA Global (Booth 502), September 28-30, Jacob Javits Center, New York, and Pack Expo (Lakeside Center/East Building, Upper Level, Booth 5020), October 31-November 3, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL.
