Mundus Group is Impressed by the Use of VTOL Aircraft Technologies in the Movie Avatar

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mundus Group (Pink Sheets:MNDP) is impressed by the conceptual use and forward thinking of Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft technologies in recent blockbuster movie Avatar.

Keith Field, chairman of MNDP, points out, "Though the designs in the movie may be clearly for aesthetics, these conceptual VTOL designs in Avatar are wonderful demonstrations of the new potential freedoms for flying that will be appreciated with ducted fan technology. Specifically, the decrease in the loss of thrust versus a conventional propeller, ability to navigate smaller spaces due the needs of a smaller diameter in a ducted fan, and the ability to use thrust vectoring (or ability to direct the thrust) are great reasons why ducted-VTOL aircraft may be the future. This is where MNDP is headed. And although there are technical and legal dimensions that are still being worked out, the conceptual and potential technology represented in the movie most resembles and brings to light the benefits of the ducted fan, with its enclosed propellers and safer operation to pedestrian proximity."

Not only does MNDP work towards the future of aerospace, similar to the conceptual design of futuristic movies, it also produces products for use for today with its unmanned VTOL helicopters that can be used in an array of situations. MNDP's subsidiary, Airstar, provides a range of preconfigured camera ships and provides assistance to the remote controlled operator for aerial photography for resorts, golf courses, weddings or for use in other innovative aerial photography solutions.
